(R)-1-Phenyl-1-ethylammonium (R)-2-hydroxymethyl-2-(2-naphthyl)propanoate

Abstract: The title compound, C₈H₁₂N⁺·C₁₄H₁₃O₃^-, is the less soluble diastereomeric salt of 2-hydroxymethyl-2-(2-naphthyl)propanoic acid with (R)-(+)-phenylethylamine. The ammonium group of the cation and the carboxylate group of the anion are linked via N-HO hydrogen bonds, forming ribbons along the b axis.
