Bis(biguanido-²N,N')copper(II) dihydrate

Abstract: In the title compound, [Cu(C₂H₆N₅)₂]·2H₂O, the Cu²⁺ cation, lying at a centre of symmetry, is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidenate ligands, forming a square-planar complex. The deprotonation of the ligand causes an increase in -conjugation. Hydrogen bonds between solvent water and the complex help to stabilize the three-dimensional network structure.
