4-(4-Bromophenyl)-3-methyl-1-phenyl-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridin-6(7H)-one

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₉H₁₆BrN₃O, was synthesized by the reaction of 5-amino-3-methyl-1-phenylpyrazole with 4-bromophenylaldehyde and Medrum's acid in glycol under microwave irradiation. X-ray crystal structure analysis reveals three crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. In all these molecules, the dihydropyridine ring adopts a distorted envelope conformation. In the crystal structure, the molecules exist as N-HO hydrogen-bonded dimers.
