Parawollastonite-type Cd₃[Si₃O₉]

Abstract: Cd₃[Si₃O₉] (tricadmium trisilicate) crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2₁/c and is isotypic with the mineral parawollastonite, Ca₃[Si₃O₉]-2M. The structure contains distorted CdO₆ octahedra and SiO₄ tetrahedra that are organized in unbranched dreier single chains with three SiO₄ tetrahedra in the repeat unit. All atoms occupy general positions 4e.
