4-(4-Bromo-5-methylthiophen-2-yl)pyridine

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₀H₈BrNS, is used as a precursor to diarylethene derivatives. The dihedral angle between the thiophene and pyridine rings is 4.9 (1)°, and there is evidence for conjugation throughout the molecule. The structure is stabilized by - stacking interactions down the c axis.
