R₂²(14) dimers in 3-(hydroxyethyl)amino-1-phenylbut-2-en-1-one

Abstract: The title compound, C₆H₅COCH=C(NHCH₂CH₂OH)CH₃ or C₁₂H₁₅NO₂, has been synthesized by the reaction of benzoylacetone and ethanolamine in ethanol. In the crystalline state, molecules are linked by intermolecular hydrogen bonds (O-HO=C) to form centrosymmetric R₂²(14) dimers.
