4-(2-Naphthyl)pyrimidine

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₁₀N₂, has been synthesized from the appropriate ketones and formamide using different palladium complexes as catalysts. The pyrimidine group is twisted 30.48  (9)° relative to the naphthalene part of the molecule, resulting in an intramolecular C-HN hydrogen bond. There is also an intermolecular C-HN hydrogen bond linking the molecules in the crystal structure.
