Abstract: The title compound, also known as 2-amino-5-[4-(octylamino)phenyl]tropone, C21H28N2O, contains two crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The NH2 group of the 2-aminotropone unit and the NH group of the aminobenzene unit participate in intermolecular hydrogen bonding with the O atoms of neighbouring molecules. An intermolecular

interaction is observed in the crystal structure.
