Abstract: In the title compound, C4H6N3O+·C2HO4-·H2O, the cytosine molecule is protonated and oxalic acid is in the monoionized state. The structure is stabilized by O-H
O and N-H
O hydrogen bonds, and van der Waals interactions. The water molecules are also found to mediate interactions between oxalate anions and cytosinium cations.
