K. Bouchouit, N. Benali-Cherif, S. Dahaoui, E.-E. Bendeif and C. Lecomte

Abstract: In the title compound, C4H6N3O+·C2HO4-·H2O, the cytosine molecule is protonated and oxalic acid is in the monoionized state. The structure is stabilized by O-H...O and N-H...O hydrogen bonds, and van der Waals interactions. The water molecules are also found to mediate interactions between oxalate anions and cytosinium cations.
