Abstract: In the title compound, C₂₄H₄₈Br₂, the molecule is centrosymmetric and the molecular skeleton including both terminal Br atoms has an all-trans conformation. The molecules form layers with a thickness of c/2. These features are similar to the smectic C_A phase of liquid crystals.
