-chloro-bis[tetrachlorobismuthate(III)] trihydrateAbstract: The title salt, (C4H12N2)2[Bi2Cl10]·3H2O, was prepared by reaction of bismuth trichloride and piperazine in a hydrochloric acid medium. It consists of piperazinium dications and dimeric [Bi2Cl10]4- tetraanions, the latter with twofold rotation symmetry, together with water of crystallization. Hydrogen-bond interactions, including N-H
O, N-H
Cl and O-H
Cl interactions, stabilize the crystal structure.
