N-(3-Nitrobenzylidene)-p-toluidine

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₄H₁₂N₂O₂, is non-planar. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 32.1 (2)° and the nitro group is at an angle of 13.2 (2)° with respect to its attached benzene ring. In the crystal structure, the molecules are stacked through - interactions. The stacks are arranged through - and C-H interactions, forming chains along [001], which are further connected by C-HO and C-HN hydrogen bonds, forming networks along [100]. The networks are connected by C-HO hydrogen bonds along [010].
