4-[2-Methyl-4-(4-methylphenyldiazenyl)phenoxy]phthalonitrile

Abstract: The title compound, C₂₂H₁₆N₄O, displays a trans configuration with respect to the -N=N- double bond, as found for other diazene derivatives. There is a weak intramolecular C-HN hydrogen bond, which seems to have an effect on the molecular conformation. The crystal packing is governed by weak intermolecular C-HN and C-HO hydrogen bonds, and weak C-H stacking.
