Abstract: Chiral crystals of the title salt, [Pd(C20H22N4O2)2]Cl2, contain [Pd(L1)2]2+ cations [L1 is (S,S)-1,2-dimethoxy-1,2-bis(1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethane] separated by disordered Cl- anions. Two geometrically constraining L1 ligands coordinate each PdII ion facially to yield a distorted tetragonal N4(imine)+O2(methoxy) coordination geometry.
