Bis[(S,S)-1,2-dimethoxy-1,2-bis(1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethane]palladium(II) dichloride

Abstract: Chiral crystals of the title salt, [Pd(C₂₀H₂₂N₄O₂)₂]Cl₂, contain [Pd(L1)₂]²⁺ cations [L1 is (S,S)-1,2-dimethoxy-1,2-bis(1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethane] separated by disordered Cl^- anions. Two geometrically constraining L1 ligands coordinate each Pd^II ion facially to yield a distorted tetragonal N₄(imine)+O₂(methoxy) coordination geometry.
