N-(2,4-Dinitrophenyl)-N'-(2-pyridylmethylene)hydrazine

Abstract: The title compound [alternative name: pyridine-2-carbaldehyde 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazone], C₁₂H₉N₅O₄, was prepared using pyridine-2-carbaldehyde and N-(2,4-dinitrophenyl)hydrazine. In the crystal structure, weak intermolecular C-HO hydrogen-bonding interactions link adjacent molecules to form a three-dimensional supramolecular network.
