Abstract: In the title compound, C18H16N2O2, the dihedral angle between the indole ring system and the benzoyl benzene ring is 31.5 (1)°. In the crystalline state, symmetry-related molecules are linked via N-H
O and C-H
O hydrogen bonds, and
-
interactions to form a layer structure parallel to the bc plane.
