5-Methyl L-glutamate

Abstract: In the title compound, C₆H₁₁NO₄, the ¹ and ² torsion angles are -34.1 (3) and 149.1 (4)°, respectively. Atom C is gauche to N and atom C is trans to C. Translationally and screw-related molecules are connected by N-HO hydrogen bonds to form layers parallel to the ab plane.
