Tetraaquabis(4,4-bipyridine)copper(II) bis(perchlorate) bipyridine tetrasolvate

Abstract: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(C₁₀H₈N₂)₂(H₂O)₄](ClO₄)₂·4C₁₀H₈N₂, the asymmetric unit consists of one-half of a mononuclear [Cu(bpy)₂(H₂O)₄]²⁺ cation (bpy is 4,4-bipyridine), one perchlorate ion and two solvent bpy molecules, the formula unit being generated by crystallographic inversion symmetry. A three-dimensional network with triangular channels is formed via O-HN hydrogen bonds and - interactions.
