Abstract: In the title compound, C16H18N4S2·H2O, a crystallographic twofold axis runs perpendicular to the benzene ring; the solvent water oxygen atom also sits on a twofold axis. The terminal (1-methylimidazole-2-yl)-sulfanyl groups adopt a trans configuration with respect to the benzene ring and the dihedral angle between the two imidazole rings is 81.9 (3)°.
