-3-(Carboxylatomethoxy)phenylsulfanylacetato-O:O'-bis[aquabis(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')cadmium(II)] dinitrate

Abstract: The reaction of cadmium nitrate with sodium 3-(carboxymethoxy)phenylsulfanylacetate in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline yields the title centrosymmetric dinuclear salt, [Cd₂(C₁₀H₉O₅S)(C₁₂H₈N₂)₄(H₂O)₂](NO₃)₂, with the disordered (C₁₀H₉O₅S) ligand lying on a special position of site symmetry. In the centrosymmetric dication, the water-coordinated Cd atom is chelated by the two heterocyclic ligands; it is covalently bonded to the O atom of the dicarboxylate in a distorted octahedral geometry.
