[mu]-3-(Carboxylatomethoxy)phenylsulfanylacetato-[kappa]O:O'-bis[aquabis(1,10-phenanthroline-[kappa]2N,N')cadmium(II)] dinitrate

L.-H. Huo, S. Gao and S. W. Ng

Abstract: The reaction of cadmium nitrate with sodium 3-(carboxymethoxy)phenylsulfanylacetate in the presence of 1,10-phenanthroline yields the title centrosymmetric dinuclear salt, [Cd2(C10H9O5S)(C12H8N2)4(H2O)2](NO3)2, with the disordered (C10H9O5S) ligand lying on a special position of \overline{1} site symmetry. In the centrosymmetric dication, the water-coordinated Cd atom is chelated by the two heterocyclic ligands; it is covalently bonded to the O atom of the dicarboxylate in a distorted octahedral geometry.
