A monoclinic polymorph of pyrazinic acid

Abstract: The title compound (pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid), C₅H₄N₂O₂, had been previously characterized in space group Pna2₁ and has now been obtained as a monoclinic polymorph crystallizing in space group P2₁. The molecule is almost planar and is connected to symmetry-related molecules through O-HN and C-HO hydrogen bonds, and weak - interactions, giving a three-dimensional network.
