2,3-Diphenyl-2,3-dihydrospiro[1,3-oxazole-5(4H),1'(3'H)-2-benzofuran]-3'-one

Abstract: Two diastereoisomers of the title compound, C₂₂H₁₇NO₃, have been prepared by [3 + 2]-cycloaddition of 3-methylenephthalide with C,N-diphenylnitrone. The assigned structures of these compounds were supported by NMR data. The molecular structure of the major cycloadduct was confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction.
