Abstract: Single crystals of ErNiSi2 were synthesized from the corresponding elements by arc melting. The ternary intermetallic compound crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Cmcm and adopts the CeNiSi2 structure type [Bodak & Gladyshevskii (1969). Kristallografiya, 14, 990-994], with all four crystallographically unique atoms in special positions of site symmetry m2m.
