-2-(pyridinium-1-yl)butanedioato-
O1:O4]] 2.5-hydrate]Abstract: In the title calcium carboxylate, {[Ca(C9H8NO4)2(H2O)2]·2.5H2O}n, prepared by the interaction of sodium 2-(pyridinium-1-yl)butanedioate with CaCl2·6H2O in water, adjacent Ca2+ ions are joined by a pair of racemic 2-(pyridinium-1-yl)butanedioate anions, forming coordination polymer strands which are further extended into a three-dimensional structure by hydrogen bonds between pendant O atoms of the carboxylate groups and water molecules.
