4'-[4-(Imidazol-1-yl)phenyl]-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine (IPTP)

Abstract: The title compound (IPTP), C₂₄H₁₇N₅, has been synthesized and characterized by ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR and single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The three pyridyl rings are almost coplanar. The benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 49.59 (17) and 19.18 (13)° with the central pyridyl ring and the imidazole ring, respectively.
