Potassium 2-benzoylbenzoate dihydrate

Abstract: The title compound, K⁺·C₁₄H₉O₃^-·2H₂O, was prepared by slow evaporation of an aqueous solution of potassium 2-benzoylbenzoate. Potassium cations are coordinated by six O atoms of two 2-benzoylbenzoate anions and three water molecules in a polymeric structure with bridging ligands. There are intermolecular O-HO hydrogen bonds in the crystal structure.
