Abstract: The crystal structure of cylopentylamine monohydrate, C5H11N·H2O, is composed of molecular chains of alternating cyclopentylamine and water molecules which are linked by O-H
O and O-H
N hydrogen bonds. These chains are parallel to the monoclinic b axis and they are bridged by weaker O
H-N contacts, forming hydrogen-bonded layers of molecules parallel to (100).
