Aquadichloro(2,9-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N)copper(II)

Abstract: In the title compound, [CuCl₂(C₁₄H₁₂N₂)(H₂O)], there are two molecules in the asymmetric unit; both Cu atoms are five-coordinate with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. Molecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by O-HCl and C-HCl hydrogen bonds. The packing is stabilized by - interactions between the phenanthroline ring systems.
