3-(1-Methyl-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxamido)propanoic acid

Abstract: The title compound, C₉H₁₂N₂O₃, was synthesized by condensation of -alanine methyl ester with 1-methyl-2-(trichloroacetyl)pyrrole at room temperature, followed by saponification and acidification. In the crystal structure, intermolecular N-HO and O-HO hydrogen-bond interactions link the molecules into extended ribbons parallel to the a axis.
