Abstract: The title compound, C₇H₁₀N₂O₂, crystallizes as a nearly planar molecule. The carboxyethyl group is twisted by 4.43 (14)° relative to the plane that includes the imidazole group. The carbonyl unit of the carboxyethyl group is oriented anti to the N-methyl group of the imidazole.
