Abstract: The title salt, C₈H₂₀NO₅⁺·C₇H₄NO₄^-·H₂O, is composed of a 4-nitrobenzoate anion, a [2-hydroxy-1,1-bis(hydroxymethyl)ethyl]bis(2-hydroxyethyl)ammonium (NBHHP) cation and a water molecule. The three units are linked by O-HO hydrogen bonds.
