[2-Oxido-1-naphthaldehyde (2-hydroxybenzoyl)hydrazonato]pyridinecopper(II)

Abstract: The approximately planar complex molecule, [Cu(C₁₈H₁₂N₂O₃)(C₅H₅N)], contains one L^2- ligand (L^2- is the dianion of 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde 2-hydroxybenzoylhydrazone), one Cu atom and one pyridine molecule. The Cu centre shows square-planar N₂O₂Cu coordination. The tridentate dianion has an intramolecular NH-O hydrogen bond. Each pair of adjacent molecules is linked together by - stacking and CuN interactions, which lead to the existence of a dimer. Owing to C-HO hydrogen bonds, these dimers are further assembled into a two-dimensional framework.
