2-Amino-1-(4-chlorobenzyl)pyridinium bis(1,2-dicyanoethene-1,2-dithiolato)nickelate(III)

Abstract: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, (C₁₂H₁₂ClN₂)[Ni(C₄N₂S₂)₂], consists of one 2-amino-1-(4-chlorobenzyl)pyridinium cation and one [Ni(mnt)₂]^- anion (where mnt is 1,2-dicyanoethene-1,2-dithiolate or maleonitriledithiolate). The Ni^III ion is coordinated by four S atoms of two mnt ligands and exhibits the expected square-planar coordination geometry. The anions and cations stack into well segregated columns along the a axis and the Ni^III atoms form a zigzag chain.
