2,9-Dimethyl-3,8-bis(methylsulfanyl)naphtho[2,1-b:3,4-b']difuran

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₈H₁₆O₂S₂, was prepared by the Lewis acid-catalysed reaction of 2,3-dihydroxynaphthalene with -chloro--(methylsulfanyl)acetone. The naphtho[2,1-b:3,4-b']difuran unit is nearly planar, with a mean deviation from the least-squares plane of 0.028 Å. In the crystal structure, aromatic - stacking interactions are observed between adjacent molecules.
