Abstract: In the title mononuclear zinc(II) complex, [ZnCl2(C11H16N2O)], the ZnII atom is coordinated by the imine N and phenolate O atoms of the Schiff base ligand and two chloride anions to give a four-coordinate tetrahedral geometry. In the crystal structure, the molecules are linked through intermolecular N-H
O, N-H
Cl and C-H
Cl hydrogen bonds, forming layers parallel to the ab plane.
