{6,6'-Dimethoxy-2,2'-[ethane-1,2-diylbis(nitrilomethylidyne)]diphenolato}nickel(II) chloroform solvate

Abstract: The title compound, [Ni(C₁₈H₁₈N₂O₄)]·CHCl₃, has been synthesized by the solid-state reaction of Ni(OAc)₂·4H₂O and the Schiff base ligand N,N'-ethylene-bis(3-methoxysalicylaldehyde) [abbreviated as H₂(3-MeO-salen)]. The Ni atom adopts a slightly deformed square-planar coordination geometry in which the 3-MeO-salen ligand acts as a cis-N₂O₂ donor.
