1-Hydroxy-6,7-dimethoxy-8-nitro-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₁H₁₃N₂O₅, was obtained during the preparation of 3,4-dihydro-6,7-dimethoxy-8-nitroisoquinoline from 3,4-dihydro-6,7-dimethoxyisoquinoline using NO₂BF₄ as a source of NO₂⁺. ¹H/¹³C NMR and X-ray analysis confirm the presence of a hydroxy group at position 1. The structure consists of layers of molecules parallel to the (12 $\\overline{1}$ ) plane.
