Abstract: The title compound, C11H13N2O5, was obtained during the preparation of 3,4-dihydro-6,7-dimethoxy-8-nitroisoquinoline from 3,4-dihydro-6,7-dimethoxyisoquinoline using NO2BF4 as a source of NO2+. 1H/13C NMR and X-ray analysis confirm the presence of a hydroxy group at position 1. The structure consists of layers of molecules parallel to the (12\\overline{1}) plane.
