Sodium ytterbium carbonate difluoride, NaYb(CO₃)F₂

Abstract: The title compound was obtained by microwave-assisted hydrothermal synthesis at 463 K. It is isostructural with the mineral horváthite, NaY(CO₃)F₂. The structure is built up from (010) infinite [NaYbCO₃]²⁺ layers interspersed by fluoride ions. All the atoms except F have site symmetry m.
