5-Methyl-2,3-diphenyl-1-benzofuran

Abstract: The title compound, C₂₁H₁₆O, was synthesized by the Lewis acid-catalysed reaction of p-cresol with 2-chloro-2-methylsulfanyl-2-phenylacetophenone. The 1-benzofuran ring system is almost planar. The structure is stabilized by -CH₂-H interactions.
