Poly[([mu]3-O-ethyl dithiocarbonato-[kappa]5O,S:S,S':S')[(1,10-phenanthroline-[kappa]2N,N')potassium(I)]]

Abstract: The title compound, [K(C3H5OS2)(C12H8N2)]n, was prepared from potassium ethylxanthate and 1,10-phenanthroline. A one-dimensional structure is formed via coordination to a KI atom from symmetry-unique and symmetry-related atoms through four S, one O and two N atoms. The coordination geometry is best described as distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal. In the crystal structure, significant [pi]-[pi] stacking interactions connect one-dimensional chains into sheets perpendicular to the b axis.
