Poly[(₃-O-ethyl dithiocarbonato-⁵O,S:S,S':S')[(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')potassium(I)]]

Abstract: The title compound, [K(C₃H₅OS₂)(C₁₂H₈N₂)]_n, was prepared from potassium ethylxanthate and 1,10-phenanthroline. A one-dimensional structure is formed via coordination to a K^I atom from symmetry-unique and symmetry-related atoms through four S, one O and two N atoms. The coordination geometry is best described as distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal. In the crystal structure, significant - stacking interactions connect one-dimensional chains into sheets perpendicular to the b axis.
