Abstract: The complex molecule of the title compound, [NiCl₂(C₆H₈N₂)(C₁₂H₈N₂)]·CH₄O, has twofold rotation symmetry. The complex has a distorted octahedral NiCl₂N₄ coordination. Hydrogen-bonding and - stacking interactions help to stabilize the crystal structure.
