Bis{₂-2-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyliminomethyl]phenolato}bis[chlorozinc(II)]

Abstract: The title complex, [Zn₂(C₁₁H₁₅N₂O)₂Cl₂] or [LZnCl]₂, where L is the 2-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyliminomethyl]phenolate anion, is obtained by the reaction of LZnEt with CDCl₃ or by the reaction of LH with ZnCl₂ in refluxing tetrahydrofuran. The Zn atoms in the dimeric complex are bridged by the O atoms of the phenolate anions, and the coordination geometry around each Zn atom is distorted square-based pyramidal. The two Cl atoms lie on the same side of the central Zn₂O₂ plane.
