Bis[1-(but-2-enyl)-5-nitro-1H-benzimidazole-N³]dichlorocobalt(II)

Abstract: The title compound, [CoCl₂(C₁₁H₁₁N₃O₂)₂], was synthesized from 1-(but-2-enyl)-5-nitrobenzimidazole and cobalt dichloride in ethanol. The Co^II atom has a distorted tetrahedral geometry, coordinated by two Cl atoms and two N atoms. The molecule is located on a twofold rotation axis, which passes through the Co atom. In the crystal structure, molecules are connected by intermolecular C-HO hydrogen-bonding interactions.
