N3]dichlorocobalt(II)Abstract: The title compound, [CoCl2(C11H11N3O2)2], was synthesized from 1-(but-2-enyl)-5-nitrobenzimidazole and cobalt dichloride in ethanol. The CoII atom has a distorted tetrahedral geometry, coordinated by two Cl atoms and two N atoms. The molecule is located on a twofold rotation axis, which passes through the Co atom. In the crystal structure, molecules are connected by intermolecular C-H
O hydrogen-bonding interactions.
