3,4-Di-p-tolyl-6,7-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b][1,3]thiazole

Abstract: The title compound, C₁₉H₁₈N₂S, is a member of a new series of 2,3-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b][1,3]thiazoles and was obtained from 4,5-di-p-tolyl-1,3-dihydroimidazole-2-thione and 1-bromo-2-chloroethane. The thiazole ring adopts an envelope conformation; the plane through N, S and two C atoms makes a dihedral angle of 2.35 (3)° with the fused imidazole ring. The tolyl groups are essentially planar.
