Abstract: The title compound, C₂₉H₂₈F₆O₂S₂, a new symmetrical photochromic dithienylethene with 3-methoxyphenyl substituents, may have applications in optoelectronic devices. In the crystal structure, the molecule adopts a photo-active antiparallel conformation. The distance between the two reactive thiophene ring C atoms is 3.490 (5) Å.
