Chlorobis(1,10-phenanthroline-²N,N')copper(II) 4-aminobenzenesulfonate trihydrate

Abstract: The crystal structure of the title compound, [CuCl(C₁₂H₈N₂)₂](C₆H₆NO₃S)·3H₂O, contains Cu^II cations five-coordinated by one chloride anion and four N atoms of two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands. Between the the 4-aminobenzenesulfonate anions and the uncoordinated water molecules intermolecular hydrogen bonding is found.
