Abstract: In the title compound, C₁₈H₂₄O₂, a derivative of dehydroabietic acid formed by a Friedel-Crafts reaction between methyl dehydroabietate and aluminium trichloride, the fused cyclohexane rings exhibit classical chair and half-chair conformations.
