The title compound, [Os(C6HF4S)4(PPh3)]·0.5C6H14, includes a trigonal–bipyramidal OsIV complex with a coordination geometry close to that known for the analogous unsolvated complex, and hexane disordered around an inversion centre. Significant libration and rotation are observed for the thiol­ate ligands in the crystal structure when compared with the unsolvated species.
