The title compound, [Fe(C5H5)(C7H6IO)], crystallizes with two unique mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit. Both iodo substituents of the iodo­acetyl groups point away from the Fe atoms of the ferrocenyl groups. In the crystal structure, C—H...O hydrogen bonds and unusual I...π inter­actions stabilize the structure.

Special details top

Geometry. All e.s.d.'s (except the e.s.d. in the dihedral angle between two l.s. planes) are estimated using the full covariance matrix.
