Abstract: In the title compound, C4H12+·C8H3Cl2O4-, the hydrogen 4,5-dichlorophthalate ions are linked to the tetramethylammonium ions through C-H
O hydrogen bonds, generating two edge-fused motifs, viz. R21(6) and S(7)R12(7). The cation and all atoms of the anion lie on a mirror plane.
